CSC Stories

     Samantha and her daughter came to the USA right before the pandemic. Samantha came with big dreams; she was qualified to work in the financial world. But after a year and a half of applying for professional jobs, she had no work and had exhausted her savings. Desperate to avoid eviction, she came to the CSC because her neighbor told her how we helped him.  

     The CSC team saw the problem and the solution right away. We convinced Samantha to get any job temporarily, while continuing her search. The next day she got a full-time job at McDonalds. Her CSC team kept meeting with her, revised her resume, sharpened her interviewing skills, and redirected her job search. Within a couple of weeks the search paid off! She now has a full-time job in finance. Working at the fast-food restaurant gave Samantha a bridge to survive while pursuing her dream.  

     One of our long term participants was working hard to pay off his family’s debt. At every appointment with us he would report his progress and we would troubleshoot problems with him when they came up. One day an uncontrollable crisis happened. His catalytic converter was stolen off of his vehicle overnight outside his apartment. And it happened right when his rent was due. He called his CSC team and explained the situation. CSC paid his rent so he could pay to have his car repaired. He is now back on track paying off his debts and is building up an emergency fund for future crises.
